Detailed Description
Our Swiss machined micro shafts are manufactured for miniature mechanical systems where shaft diameter, concentricity and axial positioning directly affect assembly performance.
Swiss CNC machining is particularly suitable for long, slender shafts because the material is supported close to the cutting tool. Multiple diameters, grooves, shoulders, threads and milled flats can therefore be produced with reduced workpiece deflection.
Secondary grinding or polishing can be incorporated where tighter bearing fits or improved surface finishes are required.
Available Surface Finishes
- Passivation: Suitable for stainless steel shafts.
- Electroless Nickel Plating: Provides uniform protection on small complex components.
- Black Oxide: Common for carbon steel micro shafts.
- Polishing: Improves surface smoothness on bearing or sliding areas.
Structural & Functional Breakdown
- Stepped Shaft Structure: Multiple diameters support bearings, gears and positioning features.
- Precision Bearing Seat: Provides controlled fit for miniature bearings.
- Threaded End Structure: Allows direct component fastening.
- Grooved Shaft Structure: Supports retaining rings, seals or axial locking elements.
Key Features
- High Length-to-diameter Capability: Well suited to long and slender shaft geometries.
- Controlled Concentricity: Multiple turned features can be produced within a continuous machining sequence.
- Miniature Feature Machining: Supports small grooves, threads, flats and holes.
- Optional Finishing Processes: Grinding and polishing can be added according to functional requirements.
