Detailed Description

CNC turned pulleys are manufactured for power transmission, belt guidance and motion-control assemblies where bore accuracy, groove geometry and rotational alignment are important. Typical products include timing pulleys, V-belt pulleys, guide pulleys, idler pulleys and custom drive wheels.

Aluminum is commonly selected for lightweight motion systems, while carbon and alloy steels provide higher strength and wear resistance for demanding machinery. Stainless steel can be used where corrosion resistance is required.

CNC turning efficiently produces concentric outer diameters, hubs, center bores, shoulders and circumferential grooves. Secondary milling or drilling can add keyways, radial holes, set-screw holes and other mounting features.

Available Surface Finishes

  • As-Machined: Standard finish for internal transmission components.
  • Clear Anodizing: Adds corrosion resistance to aluminum pulleys.
  • Black Anodizing: Common for automation and motion-control components.
  • Hard Anodizing: Improves surface wear resistance for selected aluminum pulleys.
  • Black Oxide: Provides basic surface protection for steel components.
  • Nickel Plating: Available for additional corrosion and wear protection.

Structural & Functional Breakdown

  • Precision Center Bores: Maintain accurate alignment with shafts and bearings.
  • Machined Belt Grooves: Support timing belts, V-belts and other transmission systems.
  • Integrated Hubs: Provide structural support around shaft interfaces.
  • Shoulder Features: Control axial positioning within mechanical assemblies.
  • Keyways & Set-Screw Holes: Provide secure torque transmission and shaft retention.

Key Features

  • Concentric Groove Geometry: Belt grooves and center bores can be machined from common rotational datums.
  • Custom Belt Profiles: Groove geometry can be adapted for timing, V-belt and specialized transmission systems.
  • Precision Shaft Interfaces: Bores, keyways and mounting features support accurate assembly.
  • Lightweight or High-Strength Options: Aluminum and steel materials can be selected according to load and inertia requirements.
  • Integrated Mounting Features: Hubs, shoulders, set-screw holes and keyways can be incorporated into one component.
  • Flexible Production Volumes: Suitable for prototypes, custom machinery and repeat batch production.
